CAMP FEES

Q: What are the camp fees being used for?

A: Everything to do with camp. For example: Shirts, meals, crafts, facilities, games/activities, ect.

Q How is a fee payed?

A: The fee is payed to your unit using a tithing slip. Write Young Women's Camp under "other".

Q: When should fees be paid?

A: Fees should be paid BEFORE camp. All things that are purchased for camp are paid for before camp. Our budget comes from the campers fees. A unit cannot wait till after camp to pay because they are afraid of campers bailing at the last minute. Whether they come or not, we have still had to pay for their "camp stuff". This is why it is so important to teach the girls to make a decision and be committed.

Q: Why is it important to turn in forms before the deadline?

A: 1- So you don't have to pay the late fee.

2- Most importantly, because many things depend upon the number of girls going. Names, ages, and shirt sizes are all very important and crucial when ordering shirts, crafts, ect.  and also for planning certain activities and how the different levels will be split up for YCL groups. Please take the deadline seriously!

Q: How must the fee be payed when leaders of a group switch out during the week?

A: If one leader of a group stays with a group for half/part of the time of camp and then switches out during the week with one other leader, then together they would pay the fee for one person.

If any one leader stays for the whole week (Wednesday through Friday night or Saturday Morning) they must pay the full amount for one person.

If any leader comes to camp for half or part of the time to fulfill leader responsibilities, but is not switching out with another leader, they are required to pay half of the fee for one person.

TECHNOLOGY

Q: May I bring my phone or other technology to camp?

A: Of course you can, at your own risk. However, phones will NOT be used during activities or lectures for anything other than picture taking. Your YW leader gets to decide any other restrictions for the use of technology. The camp committee will not be responsible for the loss of any technology (or other items) during camp. Activities are not to be disrupted or held up for the loss of anyone's possessions.

FOOD and DRINK

Q: May we bring our own food to camp?

A: Your group together may bring snack type food and as many un-caffeinated drinks as you all like.

Bishops, Leaders, and Parents,

Please do not bring any food that would substitute a meal. To be honest, it is a waste, and we wish to show the leaders in the kitchen that we appreciate the hard work they have put in to preparing our meals at camp.

Q: Carrying a water bottle around is a pain. May I leave mine at my camp site?

A: That's a big fat NO! Every girl must have a water bottle with them at all times. I would suggest a small backpack, hook for your belt loops, a side pack, or something to help tote it.

CLOTHING

Q: What are the rules for clothing?

A: This question is answered on our Camp Rules Form.

Q: Are shorter, lighter shorts permitted to wear to the pool?

A: Shorts that are shorter than what is stated in the rules are allowed to be worn to and from the pool, but NO other time during the day. Time will be given for groups to change before and after their swimming time.

Q:What are the guidelines for swimsuits?

A: No two-piece bathing suits that show the stomach are allowed. One Piece and tankini bathing suits are permitted. When wearing a tankini, the belly shouldn't show when the arms are raised. Whether it is a one piece (maillot) or a tankini, there should be NO: backs cut out down to the bottom, cuts-outs any where on the bottom, plunges on the front (low fronts that show an inappropriate amount of cleavage).

You may wear clothing over your bathing suit to feel more comfortable or to make a bathing suit more modest. This is NOT required.

ACTIVITIES

Q: What if someone doesn't want to participate in an activity?

A: A YW should be encouraged to participate but not forced. In the end, if a YW doesn't want to participate she doesn't have to. However, she MUST be present for the activity with the other girls unless she is sick, in which case she must be taken to the nurse. She will not be permitted to go anywhere else and/or be with anyone else.

YW

Q: What must be done about a YW asking to go home at any time during camp?

A: What the camp committee advises for any time is to first find out what the YW is having difficulty overcoming (has she been hurt, offended, ect.) and then go from there. We know that often homesickness happens at night when she realizes that she isn't at home in her own bed. Whether at night or in the day we don't advise bringing her to the camp committee because honestly, there isn't anything that we can do that you cannot. Have a one on one with her, comfort her, and always say a prayer. In the end, if she isn't convinced please contact her parents and request that they come get her. Then, promptly inform the Camp Director that the YW will be leaving.

Q: What if I have a YCL age girl that doesn't wish to participate with the YCLs?

A: First, the camp committee needs to be informed of this information, otherwise she will be included with the YCLs according to the age stated on her form. A YCL-Level girl who doesn't want to participate as a YCL must participate as a 4th-Level instead.

Q: What if I have a YCL who can't come on the day for YCLs but wishes to participate as a YCL during the rest of camp?

A: She will be paired up with another YCL on her arrival at camp and will be expected to do everything that the YCLs are doing, as well as stay on their schedule and attend their meetings. If possible, she will be arranged to lodge with the rest of the YCLs.

Q: May a YW stay with a leader during camp instead of participating with the other YW during activities?

A: No. Unless the YW has a medical condition that requires special attention or restricts her from certain activities, she must participate with the rest of the campers. The camp committee understands that occasionally there may be a YW who is a special case. It's completely okay for her to receive a little more one-on-one time and extra encouragement from her leaders or someone close to her during the appropriate times.  If a leader feels it necessary, she may even stay on the same level with another YW whom she feels comfortable with, though she cannot say that she completed any of her actual level certifications.

GENERAL

Q: Will there be a lost and found at camp?

A: Yes, a lost and found box will be present at camp for any lost items. It will no longer be available after camp, so it's advisable to check the lost and found before leaving camp.

More to come.....
